County Lib Dems question Tory cuts in Gloucestershire

Up to £32 million is proposed to be cut from Gloucestershire County Council's budget next year, along with 200 job cuts. County Lib Dem leader Jeremy Hilton is concerned that the Tories whilst publicly hoping to protect vital services have less money to spend and debts to be paid.

Allotment holders supported by Alistair Cameron

Bishop's Cleeve allotment holders concerned about the effect of housing development on their plots at Nortenham have received the support of Alistair Cameron and local Lib Dem County Councillor Ceri Jones in their protests to local authorities. The allotment tenants are concerned that the developers could build an access road through their site. Alistair Cameron has said that the allotment holders have an extremely strong case and that growing food locally should be supported on environmental grounds :'in view of global warming we should be doing all we can to reduce transport miles, this is a green, environmental issue', he said. County Councillor Ceri Jones is concerned that Bishops Cleeve has grown enough and cannot take anymore.

Alistair Cameron criticises proposals for incinerator in Gloucestershire

Alistair joins cyclists to oppose waste plans

Alistair Cameron, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary spokesman for Tewkesbury, joined local residents and councillors, at the Wingmoor Farm site in Bishop's Cleeve, in their opposition to the plans of Grundon Waste Management to carry on dumping toxic waste at the site for another 20 years.

Protesters urge council - "don't sell us short"

On Wednesday 24th June, campaigners from the Save the Countryside group presented their local County Councillor Suzanne Williams with a petition containing over 1500 signatures, urging the County Council to resist the temptation to sell any land to developers that is currently in the greenbelt.
