Alistair CameronLiberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for TewkesburyAs Chair of Cheltenham Borough Council's Housing Committee and Leader of the Council, Alistair helped to provide more affordable housing within Cheltenham and to repair and modernise much of the town's housing stock. As a councillor for Hesters Way he helped to establish Hesters Way Neighbourhood Project and with the early regeneration of the Hesters Way area. Alistair was also an active campaigner against building on the green belt to the north and west of Cheltenham. As Parliamentary Candidate for Tewkesbury, Alistair actively supported a variety of campaigns against the closure of Tewkesbury and Winchcombe Hospitals and in favour of maintaining the Battledown Children's Ward and maternity services in Cheltenham. He also supported campaigns against the closure of post offices in the constituency such as at Churchdown Brookfield and Innsworth. As County Councillor for Gloucestershire, Alistair worked with his colleagues to secure additional investment in education and social care within the County for vulnerable people and children. He believes councils in Gloucestershire can achieve more improvements to our environment and would like to see an extension in their recycling activities (eg. plastic recycling).
