The Gloucestershire Liberal Democrats have long been campaigning for the creation of a network of cycling paths across the county to provide a real alternative for the daily commute and to help encourage regular exercise and reduce our carbon footprint.
Ben Evans, Churchdown's County Councillor, has used his role on the Economic Growth Scrutiny Committee to keep in focus the issue of improved cycle links from Churchdown to Gloucester and Cheltenham. In scrutinising the Gloucestershire Transport Plan Ben questioned senior officers on the cost and timescale for such a project.
Ben said: “I will keep pressing Officers to prioritise this route for all of the economic, environmental and health reasons that will benefit local residents. Being able to get to Gloucester Station, the new Cyber park and Cheltenham Town Centre easily by bike on a safe, well surfaced route would bring great benefits to people living and working in Churchdown”
