We ask Gloucestershire County Council to:

  • Ensure Public Rights of Way and Active Travel teams work together to create safe routes for pedestrians and other users
  • Consider the purchase of land behind Tewkesbury Academy to create a new shared path linking the school to existing path network
  • Improve the agricultural bridge over the M5 for safe use by pedestrians and cyclists
  • Upgrade and maintain the footpaths so they can be used year-round by pedestrians and cyclists
  • Connect Tewkesbury residents to the Cycle Spine from Bishop's Cleeve

Why this matters:

These improvements will improve safety, support health and wellbeing, reduce congestion and air pollution, and help meet public health and net zero commitments.

There is currently no safe active travel routes from the new developments to Tewkesbury Academy, and on to the amenities of Tewkesbury town.

There is no bus route from Tewkesbury to Bishop's Cleeve; and an upgrade to the existing footpath network would allow car-free travel options.
