After a long process, Vistry have officially handed over the keys to Tewkesbury Borough Council to the Homelands Community Centre. After building delays and  legal set backs, Lib Dem Borough Councillors have worked with the council officers to make sure the building remained a priority and ensure it gets finished and the legal transfers completed.

Tewkesbury Borough Council has already completed a tender process for applicants to run the building which was awarded to ‘Move More’ charity. Move More are a local charity working in schools, communities and families to improve children's health. Their proposal involves running the building for the community to book for community groups and events. They intend to run a community consultation to ensure the building serves the whole community and they will provide a schedule for the Community Centre.

Richard Stanley, Leader of the Council, said:

“The Homelands Community Centre is a great step forward with Vistry in supporting the local community. Residents have been patiently waiting for this development, and the opportunities going forward for events and meetings in the space will be hugely beneficial to local groups. I am excited to see what Move More can offer in terms of a busy, diverse schedule for the venue.”

Alex Hegenbarth, Councillor for Cleeve St Michael's, added:

“Building our community has always been a priority, and this addition will ensure local residents have a high standard community facility to use.”

Homelands Community Centre boasts two hall spaces, a kitchen, meeting room, and an outdoor facility is still under development. Vistry will continue to work to ensure the quality of the Centre remains of the highest standard to meet the needs of the Bishop's Cleeve community.
